"We think of our instruments as being made for
the working professional. So taking this into
consideration; nothing could be more important to us
than building solid, long-lasting relationships with
the very people we make our instruments for."
|
|
~PJ Rubal, VP & Director of Artist Relations |
 |
Stuart has always felt a close bond
with the musicians who play his
instruments like Mr. Doug Grigsby, bassist
and band director for the late Teena
Marie. Doug has also worked with
Michael Jackson, Patty LaBelle and many
others. Doug's devotion to his friend
Stuart and Spector basses is proudly
displayed on his shoulder in the form of a
Spector tattoo. |

As with any profession, having the right tools can
be vitally important regarding successfully
completing your work.
The quality of your
tools and the way in
which they help you accomplish the task at hand can
be the difference between work which is enjoyable
and pressure-free and work which is a nightmare to
undertake.
Our Artist Relations Department is all about working
with you so that you have the best tools in the
industry to accomplish your professional "work".
Besides our belief that the quality of our
instruments will help you accomplish your goals
through their well-documented durability and their
legendary sound; we want you to understand that
we're not about pushing product or the next wiz-bang
thing to come down the "trend of the month" pipe.
We
are about building solid, long-lasting relationships
built on mutual appreciation, trust, and
professional integrity.
We feel that the main
reason so many artists choose to play Spector®
bass and/or electric guitars is because we put the
needs of our artists first.
We make the
instruments that we do because we love making music
and we feel a strong bond with other musicians. |

"I'm always
pleasantly amused when I sit down with new
Spector® Artists and start talking with them
about the ins and outs of their setups, the
types of technical things that only another
musician whose been there would know, and
they are surprised that I get it." |
|
~ PJ Rubal on his role as Director of
Artist Relations |
|
 |
From the earliest days of Spector® back
in Brooklyn, NY in the mid-1970's, Stuart Spector
has acknowledged that his guitars were designed for the professional musician.
His focus was on tone, playability and
durability. He wanted to design instruments
which were outstanding in every possible way a
touring professional could want.
When PJ Rubal discovered the Spector NS-2™ in
the mid-1980's and began searching the music stores
and pawn-shops throughout the Northeast for more
Spectors®, he knew that he'd found something
special. Everything about these guitars
stood out as extraordinary. From the amazingly
comfortable curved bodies to the tone they produced,
PJ felt he'd been let in on some big secret; he had
no idea guitars of this quality existed.
He quickly became an expert on the various models
that Stuart had built to date and started amassing
an impressive collection or rare Spectors.
This would lead PJ to seek Stuart out and eventually
become Stuart's business partner. PJ's ability to speak with authority
regarding the attributes of Spector basses to other
musicians has made him the perfect person to manage the
growing roster of Spector Artists.
Who better to talk to musicians about why Spector®
is different? PJ's knowledge and expertise is
not limited to Spector® alone. He's a seasoned
musician with a lifetime of experience with touring
and studio recording. He also stays on top of
new technical innovations so he can assist the
artists who adopt new sound systems and performance
technologies figure out how to best optimize their
Spector's tone. |

 |
"The entire staff of Spector® are musicians and are
always focused on the needs of other musicians.
It's not cliché when we say that Spectors are
made by musicians FOR musicians." |
